LIZ SHARP

 

 Liz is proud to be the first Florida Sweet Tart and is having a shag-a-delic good time in the Florida Sweet Tart Show.   Liz  Manages this groovy group and has been singing professionally since legal age. She grew up in Cleveland Ohio to musician parents that influenced and encouraged her to pursue her natural singing abilities. In high school Liz was drawn to modern dance, musicals, playing guitar and singing with bands. Having a father who played jazz guitar, she had the advantage of his instruction, which inspired her to do her own song writing and Liz began performing in local clubs and coffee houses at a young age. Gradually Liz sought out local Jazz musicians and continued to book her own groups in Premier clubs and restaurants. She opened shows for such notables as Henny Youngman and Julie Kelly in addition to singing on Voice overs and Jingles. At age 23, Knowing she had talent, Experience, good looks and guts Liz left for New York and performed at various clubs and showcases. Trying her luck at "Catch a Rising Star" she landed a steady gig there as well as some limited engagements in various clubs in the village.
After careful consideration though, Liz decided that Los Angeles was more suited to her Lifestyle and career aspirations. For the next Four years, she acquired club work, performed in showcases like the Rose Tatoo for music industry people and worked on her acting abilities and recording. As fate would have it, Liz has been residing in South Florida and enjoying a busy career singing for the past 20 years.  Liz travels out of town often to perform with her Jazz and blues ensemble at clubs, corporate events and Recording work.  Liz has performed at the following Florida Establishments:Funky Biscuit,  Blue Jean Blues,  Mardi Gras Casino, Hard Rock Casino, Casablanca Cafe-Charlie’s Crab-Paradiso Italian restaurant and many more!

JES COLONGO

 

Jes Colongo one of our newest members, has been singing in front of large crowds since she was a young child, and was signed to a major record label in her early 20’s. 

Jes was born and raised in Upstate New York; she currently resides in both South & North Florida, with her husband/Business Manager Michael Colongo.  Jes is a singer-songwriter singing all genres of music. She has performed all over the country, and currently sings with a few different bands and vocal groups that perform regularly throughout the South, Central & North Florida Areas.

SUSAN ASHLEY

 

An accomplished singer/dancer/songwriter and actress, Susan Ashley comes to you from an impressive background that spans the creative medium of television, theater and the recording studio.  From Broadway to Las Vegas, Susan has been performing since she was a child and her voiced has been heard on major radio and television commercials and in some of the hottest clubs, condos and cabarets throughout the country.

 

Susan’s extensive training demonstrates her dedication and commitment to succeed as a performer.  She has studied voice with Louis Polanski and Marty Lawrence; refined her acting at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts and The Warren Robertson Studio; and has studied jazz, ballet and tap at numerous dance studios including Broadway Arts, the International School of Ballet and has danced in the Zawacki Dance Company.

For the last few years Susan has been concentrating her efforts on songwriting.  She is a prolific writer with over 150 songs to her credit. After reviewing her videos you will realize that Susan is a star that needs to be given the opportunity to shine.

SUSAN PEMPEK 

 

Former Sweettart and occasional fill in, Susan has resided in South Florida since 1984. Her childhood dream was always to become a professional singer, however she became instead, a Master Barber of more than 30 years and owner of several Barber shops. Her dream of becoming a professional singer amazingly came to fruition in 2016 and she has been performing in the South Florida area at many venues, shows and private parties.

SUSAN has a sound that will take you back to a time in musical history where the music was filled with Sunshine Lollipops & Rainbows..Susan's voice is haunting, beautiful and there is a sincerity in her voice that is a rare find! You're going to LOVE this AMAZING SWEET TART!

 

Former Sweettart Jill Minor

Former Sweettart and occasional fill in, was born in Detroit, Michigan.  Knowing that music was her passion at an early age, she started singing professionally at the age of 18 and has never looked back. 

Her talent for being a vocal chameleon has led her to cover hundreds of songs with some of the top musicians in South Florida. She has shared the stage with members of the Bee Gee’s band, and most recently, America’s Got Talent golden buzzer winner, Mandy Harvey.

 

Jill added to the Miami Freestyle Music Movement, when her song, "Match Made Up in Heaven", reached number 28 on Billboard's Hot Dance Music chart and has been involved in many other studio recording sessions, for other artists.

She has opened for New Kids on the Block, Tone Loc, Taylor Dayne, ELP and many other pop groups.

 

Jill was the official National Anthem singer for the Florida Panthers and the Miami Heat for several years as well events for The University of Phoenix and motivational speaker, Anthony Robins.  She continues to sing the Anthem for large events and for her hometown, The City of Sunrise, Florida.

Always the consummate professional, Jill has adapted to performing most every genre of music over the years.

 

Jill is now the new member of the Florida Sweet Tarts and looks forward to many “Groovy” shows with the girls!

 

Debi Lewin

 

Former sweettart member and occasional fill in,  Born and raised in the rock and roll CAPITAL OF THE WORLD , Cleveland, Ohio, DEBI LEWIN has more than 38 years of experience in show business as a professional singer, entertainer, dancer, band manager and producer. Debi's knowledge of music comes from a history of three generations of musicians. The Lewin family is recognized for their vast musical backgrounds spanning from classical and theatrical to rock and roll.  Debi started her career in 1980 in musical theater, starring in such productions as "Evita," playing the notorious "Eva Peron," "Cassie" in "A Chorus Line" and also producing and performing in many Broadway reviews and One Woman Shows. Moving from genre to genre and singing in four languages makes Debi one of the most versatile performers who'll ever hear.  Performing in Las Vegas with Wayne Newton as his back up singer at the "Sands Hotel" and on the Jerry Lewis Telethon has been one of the many highlights of Debi's career. She has also performed in Las Vegas at "Caesar's Palace," "The Aladdin," "Sahara," "Stratosphere" and "The Riviera Hotel."  Debi has had the pleasure of performing with or doing background vocals for Lou Gramm, Andy Kim, Ron Dante, The Scintas, Eric Carmen, Mitch Ryder, Chris Montez, Felix Cavaliere, Maxine Nightingale, Southside Johnny, Deniece Williams, Patty Smythe, Kim Carnes, Louis Prima Jr, Martha Reeves, Mark Farner and the beat goes on.  Debi had the pleasure of promoting shows for Sonny Geraci of "The Outsiders" and performing with Paul Shaffer and "The David Letterman Band" at "The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame."  For over a 10-year period  1997-2007, Debi performed in Cleveland and across the country with the nationally  popular Pink Floyd tribute band, "Wish You Were Here," as well as singing background vocals, both recorded and live, for "Beau Coup" and Michael Stanley.
